Every so often you are able to get Blood Glucose Monitors for free whether with a coupon or after mail in rebate or if you're really lucky both! You may be thinking well I don't need one. That's OK! If you know someone who does you can give it to them or you can donate it! Please don't pass up on getting something for free becuase you don't need it, if it is something that can easily be donated to a shelter or food pantry. Its a great way to give if you don't usually have the means to do so.

Bob's Store
I received a $10 off a purchase of $10 or more coupon in the mail this week from Bob's. I took Kay today since they don't have plus sizes for me or metallica t's for the hubby. As it goes with most department stores (Kohls, JC Penney, Sears) that carry name brands.....they are completely overpriced but have AWESOME clearances! Kay got a "rock n roll" mini dress complete with scarf and Skechers flip flops for $2.99
Movies
It is completely ridiculous how much it costs to go to the movie theater. But if you are in RI or southeastern Mass, check out Patriot Cinemas. They don't have fancy stadium seating or actually anyhitng fancy at all. You won't see newly released movies but instead those they have been out or a few weeks or months. I don't know about you but I would rather wait a few weeks and pay $1.99 at Patriots than see a movie right away for $9.75. Also on Tuesdays movies are $1!! So this Tuesday I am taking Kay to see Monsters vs. Aliens! $2 is all its going to cost.

I Love LOWES!!
Lowe's Home Improvement store really has me quite impressed. They sponsored the garden at my daughter's elementary school last year. Last thursday they also sponsored an event at her school where the students could build a birdhouse. They provided the kits and we paid $1 for a kit which all went to the continuing support of the garden. I will post an update with a picture of the birdhouse once it is done. Since I have so many paints and different brushes, Kay wanted to finish hers at home. Anyhoo...they have 2 great Build & Grow events coming up. They are free and are a great thing to do with the family. With the economy the way that it is today, it is so importmant for families to still be able to go out and have fun. It doesn't have to cost a penny and really never has. There has always been free or very affordable things to do. Its just now in "survival" mode that we are seeing them more : )

Oopsy Cake
When making a cake...always make sure that it is absolutely delicious. You never know when your dog bone shaped with chocolate paw prints cake will fall apart before you even finish the crumb coat. Yes, this is what happened to me when I was trying to make a cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party. My chef hubby said it was probably because it was really hot and muggy. When I took the cakes out of the fridge to square off and stack they starting falling apart. I had to use the frosting to glue them back together and finally frost it the best I could. It wasn't pretty but it tasted awesome! My daughter didn't seem to care either : )

Rice Krispies Treats
This was my first attempt at making these. I made them with my mom once but I was probably about 7 or 8. I don't think begging to lick the spoon while she did all the work really counts as making them lol! Its actually really simple. I got some help from the hubby when I need to scrap the contents from the pan and into the square dish. My biggest tip...COOKING SPRAY!!! LOTS AND LOTS OF COOKING SPRAY!! So, how did I make 'em?
Sprayed a 4-quart pan with cooking spray
Melted 1/4 cup (half of a stick) of butter
Added 5 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows
Cooked on low, stirring constantly until they were smooth
Removed from heat
Added 5 1/2 cups of Krispie Rice cereal (any brand)
Stirred until well coated
Sprayed 9x9 pan with cooking spray
Poured mix into pan
*STOP* go to the sink and wash your hands well!
Sprayed hands with cooking spray (lol, i know, but it works!)
Press mix firmly into pan
Let cool
Cut them into squares!
YUMMY!! Eat Up!

Hello
Greetings! I just wanted to say hello and let everyone know that I will begin blogging here on a regular basis on Friday June 12th. I need to clean out the computer a bit more lol. The goal of this blog is to share ideas about marriage, kids, frugality, christian life, green living, weight loss, childbearing/wearing/rearing etc. But please do not feel that you must fit into all of the above to join in on the fun.
God Bless, Heather
